MA Appliance Rebate Program

The Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER) is implementing an Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program that will launch July 28, 2011. The program will be available to residents who replace an existing appliance and purchase a new ENERGY STAR® qualified room air conditioner and/or ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerator (7.75 cu ft or greater). The program is expected to fund approximately 20,000 rebates worth up to $2 million in rebates and is estimated to save around 1.8 million kilowatt hours in a year, enough to power 250 homes for a year.

This is a first-come-first-served rebate program. Massachusetts residents must buy from a registered retailer on or after July 28, 2011 to apply for the rebate. Approved applicants will receive a rebate check via mail. The goals of this program include helping consumers lower their electricity costs and save energy, and stimulating the economy by encouraging consumers to replace old ineffi cient appliances with new ENERGY STAR qualified models. Old appliances don’t need to be in working condition when exchanged for more efficient models. They will be recycled after trade-in.
To apply for the rebate, visit the program’s website at www.MassEnergyRebates.com or call the program toll-free number 1-877-574-1128.
